It is strongly recommended that you backup your emails in SpamKiller before performing maintenance. Any email remaining in the SpamKiller folders will be permanently deleted when SpamKiller is uninstalled.

Run the SpamKiller Backup tool:

The following tools will create a backup file of your emails which are within SpamKiller. Please choose the link which
corresponds to your Windows Operating System (OS):

Windows XP and 2000 Pro

Windows 98 and ME

  1. Download and Save the file to your Desktop.
  2. Double-click the file to run it.
  3. Write down the location of the backed up files.
Recover Email:

Show Hidden Files

Note: Some files and folders may be hidden; you will need to make these visible before continuing. Complete the following steps to make all file and folder visible:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Explore.
  2. In the toolbar at the top, select View then Folder Options (Win 9x/ME) or Tools and then Folder Options (Win 2000/XP).
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Under Hidden files and folders, select the radio button named Show hidden files and folders.
  5. Click the Apply button.
  6. Click the OK button.

To return to default 'hidden' setting, please follow the above steps and on step 4 select the radio button named Do not show hidden files and folders.

Show File Extensions

Note: Windows XP hides known file extensions by default; you will need to make these visible before continuing. Complete the following steps to show all file extensions:

  1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Explore.
  2. In the toolbar at the top, select Tools and then Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Under Files and folders, uncheck the box named Hide extensions for known file types.
  5. Click the Apply button.
