Home > Spam > McAfee Spam Killer > How do I Set Up SpamKiller if I use a POP3 Email Account?
  • Operating System: Windows 95/98, 2000, ME, XP
  • Application: Spam Killer
  • Application Version: 5, 6, 7

Note: Before you set up SpamKiller, you'll need to have the login and server address information for your email account. If you don't have this information, contact your email service provider. Your email service provider is usually your ISP.

Once SpamKiller is installed and your computer is restarted, the New Account Wizard appears. If the Wizard is not on your screen, open SpamKiller, click on Accounts in the left pane, and click Add in the right pane.

  1. Enter a description for reference within the SpamKiller window. Any description will work. Click Next.
  2. Enter your name and full email address. Use your real name in the "Name" field. Click Next.
  3. Select Internet e-mail account and click Next.
  4. Enter your incoming email server information (POP3) and outgoing email server information (SMTP). Click Next.
  5. Enter the user name and password you use to access your email account. The user name is typically the part of your email address before the @ symbol. Click Next.
  6. Verify the setup information you've entered by clicking Test now. If successful, click Next. If not successful, click Back to verify the setup information you've entered.
  7. Follow the prompts to exit the wizard.
