Steve Sipek in his bedroom with Bobo.

Some nights all of Steve's big cats would crowd the bed, pushing Steve to the floor.

Bobo's Cage

"A cat has absolute emotional honesty -
an attribute not often found in humans.
Human beings, for one reason or another,
may hide their feelings, but a cat does not."
~ Ernest Hemingway

On Monday, July 12th 2004, Bobo the tiger escaped from Steve Sipek's compound. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Sheriff's deputies and state game officials set up a 5-acre area perimeter to track Bobo down and return him home. After 26 hours, 24-year-old wildlife officer Jesse Curtis Lee who claims was in fear of his life, shot and killed Bobo.

Bobo, who is among various other animals at Steve Sipek's house, was his favorite. Steve had Bobo since he was a cub.

Named after his childhood pet dog, Bobo had free rein to roam from his cell into the home. He had the biggest cage on the compound, complete with a mural featuring the head of a lion. At 6 years old, Bobo was a full grown adult in his prime.

Steve Sipek says his beloved Bobo like to watch TV in the den.
